Our Story
A blue tutu, a trail, and a belief that childhood is magic…
It started with a little girl we met on a hiking trail in Utah wearing a blue tutu. No occasion. No explanation. Just pure, joyful self-expression in the middle of the wilderness.
That moment stuck with us. We couldn't stop thinking about our interaction with her, about the way she moved through the world, fully herself. We wanted life to feel like that for all of us — free, expressive, and a little bit magical.
That's what The Blue Tutu is about. We believe children come into this world already knowing who they are — and our job is to create space for that to unfold. Through music, movement, stories, and nature-rooted learning & play, we want to help kids feel seen, spark their imaginations, and remind them that they are the writers of their own stories.

Our Roots & Mission
Inspire creativity and confidence
Our music is at the heart of our message. Through it, we share songs and stories about adventure, exploration, self-reflection, lessons to learn and live by, making friends, trying new things, building confidence, and following a trail of inquiry and wonder.
The songs, as well as our games, stories, and activities, are as much designed for grown-ups (aka “big kids”) as they are for kiddos. They are written in hopes of reaching that childlike part of us all, which connects us and reminds us to be curious, silly, and always growing.

The Blue Tutu is rooted in nature - both the natural world around us and our human nature. Our work with children, grown-ups, and families always has the natural world in mind and at heart, as it teaches us about being connected to ourselves, one another, and the world.

Hi 👋! We’re Travis and Bonnie.
For our entire 20+ year partnership, nature and music have been core parts of our connection and inspiration. When our son was born in 2023, we knew we would raise him by deeply immersing him in both.
The Blue Tutu combines our roots as classroom teachers, outdoor educators, coaches, mindfulness/breathwork facilitators, and entrepreneurs. It’s the most fun we’ve ever had on a joint endeavor— sharing our love of music, reverence for nature, belief in experiential education, and desire to bring joy and creativity to kids and families.
